Omium - New 2 Player iPad Game!

Omium is a 2 player shoot em up. The 2 players literally face each other as one player controls the ship and shoots at the Bad Guys falling down the screen. The other player is controlling where the Bad Guys are going, how big they are, and how fast they are moving.

There are 3 game modes:

Dodge - The Bad Guys win when one of them touches the ship. The ship can shoot Bad Guys to make them smaller until they pop out of existence.

Juggle - The Bad Guys win when one of them reaches the bottom of the screen or touches the ship. The ship must constantly shoot the Bad Guys into the air to make sure they don’t reach the bottom!

Infinite - Similar to Dodge except that the Bad Guys wrap around to the top of the screen once they reach the bottom. The ship has better ammo in this mode that destroys the Bad Guys faster but this ammo costs more so make sure to save it up.

Omium has been submitted to the app store and should be available very soon!

“Nimblebit describes Dizzypad as a cross between Doodle Jump and Koi Pond, but quite frankly it’s much better than both.” - App Advice

“like with any good game, it’s harder than it looks and does a good job keeping you trying for higher score.” - Touch Arcade

“It’s addictive and simple fun, with every missed jump just one tap away from starting over again and that familiar thought that ‘this time, I can do it better.’” - TUAW

“Overall it is another solid game from NimbleBit. The difficulty curve is just right, the control scheme efficient and the presentation certainly a cut above” - Games Uncovered

“Just like Nimblebit’s 9 other games, Dizzypad is as addicting as it gets!” - Appmodo

“a fun, well-rounded, casual and visually good-looking gaming experience which is both addictive and at the same time, a joy to play. I really can’t recommend this game enough!” - 148Apps

“The combination of strategy, challenge, and fun make this game an instant hit” - No DPad

“Dizzypad LOOKS easy but it’s challenging in itself and challenging to put down, it’s that addicting!” - The APPera

Zero Gear 1.0.2.0 Live on Steam

Note - We missed a bug in this update. Avoid joining servers that are gray for now! Sorry :(

Our first post-launch update is already live on Steam:

Zero Gear 1.0.2.0 Change Log:

* Server browser now only shows servers which have been pinged and will ping servers based in your local country first

* Quick Play changed to Quick Create

* Fixed bug which resulted in the lobby based game server not shutting down when the host left

* Invalid characters in player names are now removed

* BFF achievement disabled until it can be fixed

We are already working on more substantial updates as you read this! Some of the things we are looking into for the first rounds of updates are Analog steering and better controller support, as well as dedicated server improvements!

New Map Teaser, Status Update

Hey guys, I hope you will forgive us for a few missed IKWYDLW posts! We have been extremely busy fixing and fiddling with the Zero Gear Beta to try and get a new build out once a week. So far we have been able to make a lot of fixes and slight changes from feedback to the game thanks to over 50,000 people that have signed up for the beta! We are getting closer to a release version of Zero Gear with every new beta build.

One of the things that will be in the next build is a new target mode pachinko map, I have taken a short clip to showcase it:

Stay tuned for more breaking Zero Gear news!

Zero Gear Race Mode Playtest Footage

Here are a few clips from some playtesting of the race game mode that we had the other day. There are some new features in these clips, including mouse looking/aiming and hopping. The other major change to race mode has been our experimentation with awarding boost to the players, which has increased the fun factor by keeping players close enough together to use Zero Gear’s unique brand of close and personal physical weapons.

Time-Lapse Zero Gear Modeling Video

As I mentioned last week, I have been recording my work process while working on a new kart asset for Zero Gear. Here is the video that resulted. It was a pain in the ass to make but hopefully it will be interesting to some people. The video covers modeling and texturing the kart, although I did edit out some of the really boring parts like UV-mapping. Watch me build this from scratch: smalltank

The software used in the video are Maya 8.5 and Photoshop CS3. It was captured over about 15 hours of work.
